Institute for media at Metropolitan University Prague organized a conference about the current progress in the political communication and in the media presentation of politics in the Czech Republic, about the role of media and about the political communication in the contemporary Czech society. Prominent representatives of Czech media spoken about their views at questions of importance and risks adherent to treatment of political themes.
The Middle East after the War on Terror - 12.3.2010
Centre for Middle Eastern Studies at Metropolitan University Prague organized the 5th annual conference on the theme The Middle East after the War on Terror. The conference brought a deep analysis of the contemporary situation in the Middle Eastern region affected by the war, and the perspectives of its further development. Our and foreign experts in the sphere of history, political analysis and religion discussed - of the EU view and of the USA view - about the war on terror, reactions in the region, about the development in the Middle East and about the Islamic movement first of all in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and on the Arabic Peninsula.
Lingua Terminologica - 25.3.2010
Guarantee: Center for Anflophone Studies, Center for Language Education a Center for Asian Studies organized on 25.3.2010 the international conference Lingua Terminologica. Czech and foreign specialists have spoken about the evolution of the Japanese, Vietnamese, Indo-Chinese, Spanish and other terminologies, about specific skilled translations etc.
Global Security in the Obama´s Era - 9.4.2010
The Center for Security Studies at Metropolitan University Prague organized on 9.4.2010 the second annual student conference Global Security in the Obama´s Era. The students have discussed problems of terrorism in the world, in Europe, the situation in Iraque, Iran, in Afghanistan and its water sources, international security and Obama´s policy, the Russia and the international security and the current problems of (inter-)national security.
State and Identity in the Middle America - 30.4.2010
Ibero-American Centre (IAC) at Metropolitan University Prague in cooperation with the Charles University Prague organized on 30.4.2010 the international conference State and Identity in the Middle America. The participants have discussed the state of mutual perception and contacts between the Europe and the Middle America and the current problems of the Latin America and the Middle America.
Southeast Asia: Regional Objectives, Global Contexts - 3.5.2010
On May 3rd, 2010 the Department of Asian Studies at Metropolitan
University Prague convened its second annual international conference
on Southeast Asia called „Southeast Asia: Regional Objectives, Global
Contexts". The conference was organized with the support of the Embassy of
Indonesia in Prague and Universitas Pembangunan Nasional ´Veteran´
Yogyakarta, with which Metropolitan University Prague signed a
Memorandum of Understanding. The cooperation between the two
universities has been underway since February 2010, when the first
Indonesian student Tantra Pamungkas arrived to study at the MUP within
the student exchange program.

Metropolitan University Prague in cooperation with the University of Hradec Králové and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen organized on 6. - 7.5.2010 the 5th international African conference on the theme Power and Powerlessness. The target was to remind the time of the last 50 years when in the Year of Africa the most African countries have got the independence from the European colonial power and have entered on heavy way of the independent progress. The African states have got the political independence indeed but the contemporary picture of Africa doesn´t correspond to expectations and trusts from the time 50 years ago.
Civil punishment - 13.5.2010
Metropolitan University of Prague, branch Liberec organized on 13.5.2010 juristic seminar about juristic modifications of the civil punishment in various periods and in the view of the civil law and of the civil justice. There were discussed the border between transgression and the offence and other problems.
Czech political party spirit in the international comparison - 14.5.2010
Metropolitan University Prague, regional branch Plzeň, Koterovská 85 organized on 14.5.2010 in Plzeň the conference about the forming the Czech political party system, about the current questions of the development and of the form of the Czech political system and about various polical systems in the Central and Eastern Europe.
The third resistance - 27.5.2010
The Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and Metropolitan University of Prague organized the international conference about the anti-communist resistance. After the communist putsch in February 1948, Czech society had to endure a very difficult period. One important aspect of life in the country at that time consisted of resistance to the communist authorities who established a harsh totalitarian regime with the Constitution of 9 May 1948 followed by a raft of laws. Anti-communist resistance took a number of forms, which have not yet been sufficiently researched, not even 20 years after the fall of communism.
