The certificate will be awarded to students at the end of the Bachelors or Masters Degree upon completion of all requirements.
Every Certificate applicant must complete 5 English-taught courses. During every academic year, a choice of at least 8 such courses will be offered (i.e. at least 4 courses each semester). Students may take a maximum of 2 courses per semester. The requirements may thus be met after a minimum of three semesters (it is also possible to combine courses completed in Bachelor’s and Master’s Programmes).
Students who participated in a university exchange programme (for example ERASMUS) may only apply, for the purpose of CIES, for recognition of 2 courses in the field of International Relations and European Studies per semester.
All CIES courses deal with issues pertaining to INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, INTERNATIONAL SECURITY and EUROPEAN STUDIES.
Each course is taught during one semester, i.e. 13 lectures, of 90 min each. Lectures should not make up more than half of the courses; it is the lecturer's decision whether the course will consist of seminars only, or of a combination of lectures and seminars.
In some cases, CIES courses may be a part of the regular curriculum of Study Programmes taught in Czech. In such cases, the CIES course may be recognized as an equivalent of the corresponding Czech course, provided that 1) both the Czech and English course are taught by the same teacher; 2) both courses have identical requirements for course completion.
Students may apply for the Certificate by filling in the general application form and submitting it to the Student Services office. A copy of the Student Identification and Records (index) shall be submitted together with the application form.
