14/01/2014 - American Identity as Part of U.S. Foreign Policy Today

One of the first roundtables of 2014 in MUP took place on January 14 and was dedicated to the topic “American Identity as Part of U.S. Foreign Policy Today” presented by Sherry Kenneson-Hall, U.S. Embassy Head of Cultural Affairs in Prague. This event is part of a round of debates concerning the Americas that are periodically organized by the Iberoamerican Centre (IAC).

During her extensive presentation, Sherry Kenneson-Hall touched a number of key themes such as U.S. energy policy, U.S. budget, issues faced by the LGBT community, migration and deportations, importance of foreign aid and diplomacy, role of U.S. Congress and Senate in policymaking, etc. This roundtable based on Kenneson-Hall’s presentation enjoyed interest of a large audience and a number of questions that brought about a debate.

Speaker's Bio:
Prior to joining the State Department, Ms Kenneson-Hall worked as a journalist. She has held diplomatic positions in Conakry, Brussels and Sofia.
