Over two decades of intense cooperation between the EU and Latin America, the EU provided €1 billion of investment in the region; a sum expected to more than double between 2014-2020. The presence of European companies and FDI has been on the rise in Latin America. In this context, the lecture will focus on social and political dynamics in today’s EU-Latin America’s relations, specifically:

  • Main trends in commercial, political and socio-cultural cooperation between the EU and Latin America
  • Specific forms of the Official Development Assistance provided by the EU in Latin America
  • EU cooperation with Colombia

Dr. Maria Alejandra Pineda Escobar is an Associate Professor at Politécnico Grancolombiano University, Colombia, where she lectures on sustainability, globalization and competitiveness in business. She is also an author of a highly acclaimed book entitled: Base of the Pyramid 3.0 Sustainable Development through Innovation and Entrepreneurship, 2015.
