Information

CIPS, formerly known as the Centre for Asia-Pacific Studies (CAPS), is an interdisciplinary scientific research centre at Metropolitan University Prague which deals with the current issues of the Indo-Pacific region (South, East and Southeast Asia).

By establishing the centre, the university seeks to respond to long-term trends in geopolitics which steadily shift global economic and political powers into this particular geostrategically important region.

The centre is directly linked to the Department of Asian Studies, nevertheless due to its interdisciplinary character, it closely works with academicians and professionals from several other departments, who all focus on studying this area in the context of their own disciplines, such as international relations, political geography, economics or development studies.

The main purpose and goal of the centre are relevant research activities that focus on the current issues and problems of the Asia-Pacific panregion as well as sharing the results of the research, mainly through professional seminars, international conferences, guest lectures, round table discussions and additional publications.

This section provides information on current events organised by the research centre. For your convenience, the English version of the website features only events conducted in the English language. For further events organised in the Czech language, you may switch to the Czech version.
