Certificate in Asian Language

The Certificate in Asian Language may be obtained for one or more of the following languages: Chinese, Japanese.

The Certificate in Asian Language is designed for MUP students who are enrolled in the elective courses of Asian languages offered by MUP Department of Asian Studies. It also applies to students enrolled in full-time and part-time courses of all other specialisations taught at MUP as well as participants studying Asian languages within the framework of the lifelong learning programme, pursuant to Section 60 of Act no. 111/1998 Coll., as amended.

Requirements for awarding the Certificate in Asian Language:

  1. completion of a two-year (four-semester) cycle of language seminars, generally referred to as Asian Language I-IV (e.g. Chinese I-IV) in total extent of 208 lessons (i.e. 104 lessons per academic year)
  2. compliance with the minimum requirement of attendance of at least 75 % in each semester
  3. active participation in classes
  4. successful completion of the test administered at the end of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd semester
  5. successful completion of the final examination (in both written and oral form) at the end of the 4th semester

Successful participants of the language course shall receive the Certificate in Asian Language relevant for their form of study and specialisation: 

a) MUP students of the specialisation of Asian Studies and International Relations who study an Asian language as an elective course shall receive the Certificate in Asian Language from MUP.

b) MUP students studying other specialisations than Asian Studies and International Relations shall receive the Certificate in Asian Language as a part of the lifelong learning programme (LLP), pursuant to Section 60 of Act no. 111/1998 Coll., as amended.

c) Successful participants who are not MUP students and who cover the cost of the Asian language instruction in compliance with the Lifelong Learning Programme Contract shall receive the Certificate in Asian Languagewithin the framework of the lifelong learning programme, pursuant to Section 60 of Act no. 111/1998 Coll., as amended.
