Political risk is defined as a probability that a political action will have an impact on the business or on investment. Understanding the specific character of political risk and the ways to mitigate such risk can be a crucial factor in success or failure of an enterprise. The lecture will focus on Africa and will include the impact of Belt and Road Initiative on this continent, including the way it is perceived by the local governments and population.
Jef Vincent is a world-leading expert in political risk insurance with over 20 years of experience in the credit insurance business working in Asia, the Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe. His recent experience includes the position of Chief Underwriting Officer at African Trade Insurance (ATI), Kenya. Currently, he is a Programme Officer at IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency), Abu Dhabi.
