Study Information

MUP provides education of the highest academic standards to more than 6 000 students. Our strengths lie in establishing and maintaining a balance between first-class instruction and top-quality centres for advanced research in the fields of international relations and security, European studies, political science, intellectual property, humanities, media studies, international business, Asian studies, anglophone studies, public administration, and others. In these areas, MUP offers among the broadest education available at any Czech university at the Bachelor’s (Bc.), Master’s (Mgr., Ing.), and doctoral (PhDr., Ph.D.) levels.


Bachelor's Degree
 

  • The Bachelor’s Degree study programmes are three-year programmes that are concluded by Final State Examinations, which involve a defence of the Bachelor’s Dissertation. MUP offers both full-time and part-time Bachelor’s Degree programmes. The objective of the Bachelor’s Degree programmes is to prepare students for future employment or, as the case may be, for future study at the Master’s Degree level. Graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree study programmes shall be awarded the title of Bachelor (“bakalář“ in Czech, abbreviated as “Bc.”) to be used before their name.

Master's Degree
 

  • The Master’sDegree study programmes are two-year programmes that are concluded by Final State Examinations, which involve a defence of the Master’s Dissertation. The objective of the Master’s Degree programmes is to provide students with theoretical knowledge, research opportunities, and development of the analytical and creative skills or, as the case may be, to prepare them for doctoral studies in the relevant field. Graduates of the Master’s Degree study programmes shall be awarded the title of Master (“magistr“ in Czech, abbreviated as“Mgr.”) to be used before their name.

Examen Rigorosum

  • The Rigorosum examination (“small doctorate” rigorous examination – examen rigorosum) is held twice per academic year and successful applicants shall be awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy (abbreviated as “PhDr.”) to be used before the name. The Rigorosum examination is available in the field of International Relations and European Studies and in the field of International and Regional Relations in Industrial Property.

Doctoral Degree 

  • The Doctoral Degree study programmes offered by MUP are three-year programmes that are concluded by Doctoral State Examinations, which involve a defence of the Doctoral Thesis. Doctoral Degree study programmes are available in the field of International Relations and European Studies and in the field of International and Regional Relations in Industrial Property. The Doctoral Degree study programmes are focused on independent research, teaching, and publication activities in the relevant field of study. Successful graduates shall be awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy (abbreviated as “Ph.D.”) to be used after their name.

full-TIME FORM OF STUDY

  • The full-time form of studies is conducted on a daily basis on working days, i.e. from Monday to Friday.

part-time form of study

  • The part-time form of study is implemented at MUP by means of intensive group sessions, held usually four to five times per semester exclusively on Friday afternoons and on Saturdays. In addition to that, students have the opportunity to schedule individual consultations with the lecturers during their office hours.
