About center
CERERIS (Center for Research on Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Systems) is a scientific research center in psychology dedicated to studying emotion regulation and interpersonal processes within dynamic social systems, as well as disseminating disciplinary knowledge to the professional community. The center is grounded in an interactional, process-oriented, and systemic perspective on emotions and relationships, reflecting contemporary directions in psychological research.
One of the center’s central theoretical frameworks is attachment theory, which serves as a foundation for investigating emotion regulation, emotional expression, and emotion recognition in interpersonal contexts. Particular attention is given to the mechanisms through which attachment processes shape emotions, interpersonal behavior, and adaptive functioning across various relational settings. In this area, the center also builds on the theoretical and methodological tradition of Emotional Decoding Accuracy (EDA), emphasizing the accurate perception and interpretation of emotional signals in social interaction.
In the study of interpersonal systems, CERERIS examines a broad range of relational contexts, including occupational, educational, and personal relationships (e.g., leader–follower, leader–group, teacher–student, therapist–client, and peer relations). The research program focuses on the role of individual differences that co-determine these interactions, with particular emphasis on constructs such as Emotional Decoding Accuracy (EDA), personality integrity, and the Five-Factor Model of personality.
One of the center’s foundational domains is work and organizational psychology, where the study of attachment and emotion regulation is systematically integrated with research on work performance, job satisfaction, well-being, and mental health at work. This research reflects the center’s broader aim of connecting fundamental psychological theory with applied questions concerning human functioning in complex social and organizational environments.
CERERIS is conceived as an open and flexible research platform, enabling the expansion of its scientific agenda into additional areas of psychology in which emotion regulation and interpersonal dynamics play a central role. This orientation supports interdisciplinary collaboration and the long-term conceptual coherence of the center’s research activities.
