Library of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)


WIPOIn December 2009, Metropolitan University Prague entered into an agreement with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and special collections of the Library of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) became available at the Jiří Hájek Specialised Library of Metropolitan University Prague. MUP library continually archives both printed and electronic documents published by the Library of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The holdings of the Library of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) comprise:

  • monographs, handbooks, anthologies, journals, newspapers, electronic publications on intellectual property and patents;
  • available materials can be found here in the online catalogue.

Library of the Council of Europe Information Office in Prague

Council of EuropeThe Library of the Council of Europe Information Office in Prague donated a collection of publications to the Jiří Hájek Specialised Library.

The donated collection comprises:

  • approximately 10 000 publications published by the Council of Europe on the topic of human rights, democracy, and rule of law from 1949 until present;
  • principal documents on various areas of interest of the Council of Europe (documents from the Committee of Ministers, Parliamentary Assembly, Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, and European Court of Justice; documents on developments of democracy, education, local authorities, demography, national minorities, penology, etc.) in English and French;
  • available materials can be found here in the online catalogue.

Private Collections of Professor Jiří Hájek

Jiří HájekThe donation of the original library of Professor Jiří Hájek became the "stepping stone" of MUP library - the very first publications that comprised the library holdings in 2002. Therefore, the library has been given the name of the Jiří Hájek Specialised Library.

The donated collection included specialized WW II publications and books on Latin America and Africa written in foreign languages. In addition, there are UN prints, books from the Institute for East-West Security Studies, and publications donated by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia among the first holdings of MUP Library.

  • Jiří Hájek (1913 - 1993) was a prominent diplomat, politician, and signatory and spokesperson of Charter 77.
