21/05/2026 - 25 Years of MUP - Steamboats on the Vltava River

Dear students and graduates, join us in celebrating the 25th anniversary of the founding of Metropolitan University Prague and come aboard one of the three ships in the MUP fleet.

All MUP students have received information on how to purchase tickets via their student email. If you have any questions, please email parniky@mup.cz.

In May 2001, Metropolitan University Prague received state approval from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to operate as a private university, and this year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary. In honor of this anniversary, we would like to invite all MUP students to a cruise on the Vltava River:

When: Thursday 21 May 2026, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Where: Three boats “under the MUP flag” will set sail from Rašínovo and Dvořákovo Embankments:

  • The paddle steamer Vltava, built at the Prague shipyard, was christened on 27 August 1940, on the 75th anniversary of the Prague Steamship Company.
  • The Cecílie boat, a 1960s motor saloon boat built in Germany (Magdeburg).
  • The Európé boat is the sister ship of the Cecílie. It was also built in the 1960s in Germany.

Let’s hope for good weather on the cruise, plenty of fun, and a great atmosphere - even if the weather isn’t ideal - and a wonderful time on the boat with views of Prague at dusk and in the evening, along with magical photos of the Vltava River and the Prague skyline.
