Mgr. et Mgr. Lukáš Tichý, Ph.D.

Energy security, EU–Russia external energy relations, EU–Africa energy relations, EU energy policy, EU energy activism, and EU energy discourse

Graduate of Metropolitan University Prague. He currently works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of International Relations and European Studies at Metropolitan University Prague. From 2014 to 2025 he was a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of International Relations Prague, where he functioned as the principal investigator and co-investigator of numerous domestic and foreign projects and grants, including the Czech Science Foundation, the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, the International Visegrad Fund, or Norway Grants. His research interests include energy security, EU activism in energy relations, EU–Russia and EU–Africa energy relations, and international relations theory. He has published a number of articles in various impact-factor journals, such as Energy Strategy Reviews, Energy Research & Social Science, International Politics, Mediterranean Quarterly, Energy Policy, Energy, as well as scholarly monographs with prestigious publishers such as Springer. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including Modern Africa, Vojenské rozhledy, and Energy Policy Studies.

Mgr. et Mgr. David Mareček, Ph.D.

Member of the Centre

U.S. foreign policy, ontological security, transatlantic relations, European integration, geopolitics of energy and transatlantic energy relations.

He is a graduate of the University of Hradec Králové and Metropolitan University Prague. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of International Relations and European Studies at Metropolitan University Prague, where he teaches courses focused on global security issues, international organizations, U.S. foreign policy, and European integration.

His research focuses on how states respond to crises and uncertainty in the international environment and how these responses shape their foreign policy behaviour. He is particularly interested in the relationship between identity, strategic decision-making, and security policy, including the impact of energy and geopolitical shocks, as well as transatlantic energy relations and the geopolitics of energy. He is the author of scholarly studies on U.S. foreign policy and the Cold War and regularly presents his work at international conferences.

In addition to his academic work, he actively contributes to public debates on international politics. He regularly comments on current affairs for Czech Television, Czech Radio, and CNN Prima News, focusing primarily on the war in Ukraine, U.S. foreign policy, and broader geopolitical trends.

Doc. PaedDr. Milan Vošta, Ph.D.

Changes in the distribution of the world economy and regional disparities, focusing on energy, energy relations, energy security, and resource geopolitics

Graduate of the Faculty of Science at Charles University in Prague and the Faculty of International Relations at the Prague University of Economics and Business (PhD in International Economic Relations), where he also completed his habilitation in World Economics. He is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of International Relations and European Studies at Metropolitan University Prague, and an Associate Professor at the Department of International Economic Relations at the Faculty of International Relations of the Prague University of Economics and Business. His research interests include changes in the distribution of the world economy and regional disparities, with a focus on energy, energy relations, energy security, and resource geopolitics. He has served as the principal investigator and co-investigator of scientific research projects and has published articles in various scientific journals. He is a member of the editorial boards of several journals such as Social and Humanities Sciences Revue, Political Sciences, Studia Policicae Universitatis Silenciensis.
