24/11/2025 - Japanese FDI in the Post-war Period
The Department of Asian Studies cordially invites to a public lecture titled "Japanese FDI in the Post-war Period".
This lecture examines trends of Japan‘s FDI and external economic policies in the post-war period into the following four phases: 1) 1950s-1960s, 2) 1970s-early 1980s, 3) mid-1980s-1990s, and 4) after 2000. Particularly, since the mid-1980s, the Japanese economy has globalised by replacing its export strategy with foreign direct investment. Consequently, Japan has become one of the leading investors in the world.
